Between July 16 and October 15, 2023, in the Drochia district, a project entitled “Women from Drochia involved in actions that prevent gender-based violence” was carried out, coordinated by one of the 20 women beneficiaries of mini-grants offered by Gender- Center under the auspices of the Platform for Gender Equality, Ms. Parascovia Veț, during which 6 informative sessions were held on a controversial and sensitive topic for our society, gender-based violence and especially family violence.
These events had the role of sensitizing and raising awareness of the problem that remains current not only for the Republic of Moldova, domestic violence. There were deep revelations from the participants and reflections on the management of the problem, they got to know the services available at the community level and the multidisciplinary team involved directly, in the territory, with the victims of domestic violence.
“From abuse to freedom” – that was the name of the session during which the survivor of domestic violence, Maria Scorodinschi, revealed her life story, which brought to the fore the struggle, perseverance and desire to transform her life history and to her daughters, in a happy and abuse-free one.
The stories of the beneficiaries, their courage, motivate us with determination to continue to address the sensitive topics in our society and to provide a safe space to talk about them. The efforts of the team behind the project “Women from Drochia involved in actions that prevent gender-based violence” Public Association Artemida are worthy of admiration, and their involvement contributes to the creation of a more aware and responsive community, ready to offer support to victims of domestic violence.
This event was carried out by Parascovia Veț in collaboration with the Artemida Public Association within the “Feminist and Localized Humanitarian Action” project, implemented by the Gender Center under the umbrella of the Platform for Gender Equality and financed by the Government of Switzerland and partner organizations of UN Women Moldova, through the project “Women supporting women: increasing the leadership and resilience of women affected by crisis through community initiatives.”
