Anna is one of the brave women from Ukraine who, for half a year, has found refuge in Moldova. But for her, the road to safety has been doubly difficult. 😔
Before fleeing the bombs in her country, Anna was already fighting an invisible “war” at home: the violence and control of an abusive husband. Not even the distance of thousands of kilometers, in Europe, brought her peace – threats, manipulation and blackmail by phone followed her everywhere. 📱🚫
Arriving in Moldova, although the children went to school and kindergarten, the trauma began to leave deep traces: panic attacks, insomnia and increasingly fragile health.
💡 The change began at a meeting with the Women and Girls Safe Space Mobile Team.
On the advice of other women, Anna asked for help. We were there for her not just with a kind word, but with concrete steps: ✅ Medical support through her family doctor. ✅ Specialized psychological and social assistance through the Case Management Mobile Team. ✅ Correct information about the rights and protection she benefits from in the Republic of Moldova.
Today, our colleagues are already working with her to give her back the peace of mind she deserves. 🤝
It is painful to know that, in addition to the trauma of the war, many women continue to live in fear of domestic violence. For 4 years, we have been on the ground so that no woman – be she local or refugee – feels alone.
