👨👩👧Family is the foundation of life, the place where we learn to love and be loved, where we are accepted as we are. Family is a value that helps us overcome difficulties and enjoy success, it is the foundation on which our world is built.
👉Today, Liliana – the psychologist of the Mobile Team🚍 told us about a situation that happened in a family of Ukrainian refugees:
“- Parents and their only daughter (13 years old)👨👩👧 came and settled in a small village in Moldova three years ago, right at the beginning of the war. The whole family came to the information sessions of our mobile team, always actively participated in the discussions and listened with interest to new information, asked questions of interest to them and received qualified assistance from our colleagues. The whole family received temporary protection in Moldova, attended Romanian language courses👩🏫.
💬- With our help, the woman was registered for free medical massage courses🩺 and got a job. As time passed, I began to notice changes in the behavior of the woman and her daughter. They became withdrawn, silent, apathy and indifference appeared in their eyes. There were also changes externally – the woman lost a lot of weight, began to look unkempt, and her daughter hid her gaze and began not to look me in the eye. All this made me think that something bad was happening in their family, that they were worried and scared of something.
📆- At one of our meetings, Daria (mother) finally made up her mind and came to me with her daughter and told me what was happening in their family – the whole reason was her husband. At the beginning of their stay in Moldova, they went through a period of adaptation to new living conditions, new rules and a new language. Then, when Daria, after finishing massage courses, began to go to work, and their daughter made new acquaintances, began to meet friends, walk and communicate with peers, her husband felt useless and lonely and began to accuse them of unpatriotism, selfishness, forbade Daria to go to work and her daughter to communicate with peers. He controlled their communication on the phone📱 and online💻, took their phones and turned off their internet, hid their clothes so that his daughter would not go outside. His behavior began to resemble the behavior of a domestic tyrant who locked his family members in the house and completely controlled their communication and every movement.
🗣- To help this family get out of a difficult situation, I suggested that Daria’s daughter seek help from a psychologist at the Youth Friendly Health Center (CSPT), I suggested that Daria start communicating with a psychologist who works online and helps women who have been subjected to psychological and emotional abuse. I suggested that at our next meeting she come with Daria’s husband to hear his opinion on this matter.
👨👩👧- Meeting with the whole family some time later, I was pleasantly surprised by the result – Daria told me that on my advice she turned to a psychologist who helped her establish contact with her husband, her daughter received qualified help at the CSPT Center, Daria’s husband told me about his fears because of which he behaved aggressively towards his wife and daughter.
🌟- I was sincerely glad to see this family together again, a smiling girl and loving parents👩❤️👨. This is our job – to help people who are in a difficult life situation, to be there on time, to notice a tear in the corner of their eye, sadness in their eyes, to find the right words of support and provide the necessary help.
💭- For three years, our Mobile Team has been close to beneficiaries and is always ready to help them in difficult times, for three years we have been the ones who help, inform, psychologically support and refer them to specialists for help. For three years, the administration of the Artemida Public Association and the UNFPA Moldova organization have been encouraging and supporting our activity, so that we can provide our beneficiaries with highly qualified professional assistance”” tells us Liliana.
