💙 One meeting, a changed life: Irina’s story
Sometimes, the road to freedom begins with a single step and a space where you finally feel safe. This is the story of Irina (name changed for protection), a 22-year-old who had the courage to break the silence. 🕊️
It all started as an ordinary relationship. Irina fell in love, dropped out of school and moved with her partner to a big city. At first, he was attentive and caring, but gradually, care turned into control. “Petty” criticisms appeared: how she dressed, who she talked to, what she thought. 📱
Without realizing it, Irina became a prisoner of her own life. Her partner checked her phone, managed her time and constantly humiliated her, reminding her that she lived on his money. Isolated from family and friends, the young woman began to believe that she was worthless without him. 🏚️
⚡Fear finally set in one day when, after a violent argument, he slammed her against the wall. Although promises and apologies followed – the famous “cycle of violence” – Irina understood that the situation would not change on its own. She closed in on herself, carrying the burden of an insecurity that gnawed at her daily.
🚐The crucial moment came during a visit to her hometown. At the urging of her sister, Irina participated in an information session on gender-based violence, organized by our Mobile Safe Space Team for Women and Girls. Women and Girls Safe Space at the city hall. 🏢
There, in that “Safe Space”, Irina felt for the first time that she could speak without being judged. She received psychosocial counseling and the necessary support to understand that she deserved more. 🤝
With a rediscovered inner strength, Irina ended the abusive relationship. She re-enrolled in studies
🎓 and moved to the capital, determined to build a future based on dignity. Today, she knows that she is not alone and, most importantly, she knows where to ask for help. 💪
✨ Irina’s message after the information session was the following: The road to reconstruction is not easy, but every step counts. Safety is a priority! 🌈
