The Power of a New Beginning at 50.
💬Today Tatiana – the psychologist of the Mobile Team 🚍 – Safe Space for Women and Girls. Women and Girls Safe Space will share with us the heartbreaking but hopeful story of Elena (name changed for protection), a 50-year-old refugee from Ukraine.
⏳ For 30 years, Elena lived under the dark shadow of domestic violence, believing that there was no way out. War and refugee status amplified her fear, but also finally brought her on the path to liberation.
The Mobile Team – Safe Space for Women and Girls. Women and Girls Safe Space, arrived in the community where Elena lived. During an information session on Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Elena found not only the crucial information she needed, but also the courage to speak out.
👩🦳“I thought my life would be like this forever. That it was too late to change anything. At 50, where should I go? But when the team clearly explained to me what violence is and what my rights are, I felt a spark of hope. They listened to me, believed me, and offered me the support I had never had before,” Elena says.
🫂With the psychological support and comprehensive counseling provided through the case management program of UNFPA Moldova and the Artemida Public Association, Elena managed to take the most important step: to leave the aggressor.
Elena’s story is about finding the courage to ask for help and redefine your life, regardless of age.
If you or someone you know is going through violence, please don’t stay silent!
🟠Together, we can break the cycle of violence!
