🌍Imagine how harmonious our world would become if every person, young or old, shared with others what they do best.
”👩🦰Refugees are people with broken destinies, destroyed psyches, morally tired and emotionally exhausted. For the third year they have been living in a state of waiting – waiting for the end of the war. For three years, their thoughts have been there, in Ukraine, with those they had to leave behind, thoughts about home and Motherland, thoughts about their hometown and their native streets. Their memories are memories of a life when they were happy and free with friends and family, in their own country, breathing their native air, speaking their native language and without fear of sirens and missiles. And it is with these people that we have been working for the third year already. ”
💬”For the third year, our meetings have helped them feel better, more comfortable and not feel useless and forgotten. At our meetings we discuss topics related to gender inequality and violence, we talk about support services for people who have been victims of gender-based violence. Women and adolescents receive information about the importance of reproductive health🧬 and sexual literacy.” Liliana, the Mobile Team psychologist, tells us.
Psychological assistance is also very important for refugees. There is a story from our practice that I would like to tell you.
💭”We are talking about a family from Donbas, a mother with two children 👩👧👦(a 17-year-old daughter and a 9-year-old son). They stopped in a small village in Moldova, where they were able to rent a house. For three years, Elena kept in touch with her husband, who remained in Ukraine; they talked on the phone and communicated online. Everything changed a year ago, when Elena’s husband began to accuse her of indecent behavior, threatened her and forced her to return home. The husband’s relatives manipulated her and the children, accusing them of betrayal, humiliating them and threatening to come and take the children. And Elena gave in, she began to suffer from guilt, then panic attacks, insomnia and alcohol consumption appeared. The woman tried with all her might to hold on, for the sake of the children, but she was in a foreign country, in a foreign house, she was ashamed to ask for help and did not know who to turn to with such a question. At one of our meetings, her eldest daughter turned to me for help and told me what was happening to her mother.”
👩👱♀️“During an individual psychological conversation, I offered Elena the help of our psychologist colleagues who provide online support, I redirected her to colleagues from Case Management for help, and a psychologist and a social worker began to work with her. During our discussion, I explained to her where she could seek medical help”- Liliana tells
⏳Time has passed, we have met with Elena several times since then, she feels better both emotionally and physically. 🫂Elena’s words of gratitude, calm and happy children who no longer worry about their mother – this is the reward for our work. The opportunity to help, guide and explain are the results of the work of our Mobile Team🚍 which gives us confidence in how important our support is for the beneficiaries.
We never tire of being convinced that the trust and professionalism of the administration of the Artemida Public Association and the support of UNFPA Moldova help us provide quality services to the beneficiaries who need our help.
🟠We are convinced that only together, through joint efforts, can we face the challenges.
